A Powerful New Play: Do Not Pass Go – MTC Tickets

Sat, Feb 14, 2026 19:00 PM - Sat, Feb 28, 2026 21:00 PM

Description

Do Not Pass Go

Laced with acerbic humour, Do Not Pass Go turns hustle culture inside out, asking: when the system is designed to break you, what’s left to hold onto?

Flux and Penny are colleagues idling through their days in the nondescript purgatory of a workplace no one seems to run, doing a job no one can explain, within a system neither truly believes in. They’re clocked on, but slowly checking out. As their conversations drift further from their meaningless tasks—into politics, generational tensions, and whether any of it still matters—their hot takes begin to cool into something resembling connection. Together, they trace the precarious path to becoming “work friends,” searching for common ground in a world that feels increasingly broken.

Since debuting Hungry Ghosts in 2018, screenwriter and playwright Jean Tong (Heartbreak High, Flat Earthers: The Musical) has cemented their status as one of Australia’s most exciting contemporary voices.
